worked for the railway and his photo can be seen in Greystones
Station ticket office to this day. The family lived in the Grove, and
there were four sons and two daughters.
Beatrice and John married on 24 April 1951 in York Road
th
Presbyterian Church, Dun Laoghaire. Her sister, Sybil, acted as
her bridesmaid and John’s brother, Joe, was best man.
Afterwards Beatrice and John got the express train to Belfast
where they spent their honeymoon with Beatrice’s aunt. They
returned to live with Beatrice’s mother in Malvern.

Things were not easy for the young couple when they
returned from their honeymoon because John lost his job in
O’Neill’s of Mount Pleasant Street, but he quickly found another
with Buckley Motors. Beatrice had to resign from her job after
