Calary parishes. He retired in 1992.
During those 22 years he was very involved in the
community. He wrote several local history books including ones
on Newcastle, Calary, Newtownmountkennedy and Kilcoole.
He was a founder member of St Catherine's School in
Newtownmountkennedy and manager for 22 years, first
chairperson of Sunbeam services and a member of the
government advisory body on nursing homes. He was awarded
2008 National Community Person of the year.
Bob still lives in Newcastle taking life slower but despite his
two retirements it will be no surprise if he takes up another
community project.
